URBAN SHAPE SERIES
I always been amazed by the human ability to generate such massive and complex urban systems. Cities are much more than an accumulation of streets and buildings, they are the result of an endless urban development, and much more important the transcription of how we, as a community, live together. The ‘Urban shape’ series introduces the use of phone books as the main element of the art pieces. Pages, full of names and numbers which are organized with an extreme rationality that eliminates individuality. By dismantling and reassembling the pages organized according to different patterns depending on location, I reintroduce some singularity and distinctiveness.
